The Dekadens exhibition at Dunkers Kulturhus has it starting point in 'the Rake's progress' by William Hogarth. Accompanied by the work of David Hockney, Paula Rego, Nathalie Djurberg, Jockum Nordström and Gunnar Krantz, the exhibition focuses on wealth, betrayal, gambling, women, poverty, drugs, prison and death. Rather than just showing art in a naked white room, each room at Dekadens creates an ambience around the artwork to make it even stronger. To achieve those ambiences, a large variety of materials is used: white tiles, black rubber strips, curtains, red rococo wallpaper etc.
